Did you check REI? Not sure if they have Zaffiros, but I know they stock several other Vittoria models.
Where to buy Vittoria Zaffiro tires?
As advertised in Urban Velo. Anyone know who in town stocks them?
Thanks.
I got a pair (white, mmm.) by mail from Ben's cycle from Milwaukee, which, if you aren't totally set on buying local, is a pretty cool shop.
My unsolicited review - super stiff sidewalls with thick tread rubber, they FEEL heavy, I'm not sure gram-wise they acutally are. Perfect city beaters, but you feel it in the ride (hard) and on the hills. I'm in no way dis-recommending (?) them, but that's what they're like.
Seems like the kind of thing that Thick Bikes might have.
Kraynicks had a bunch for $14 or so. Trek also has them (in the back)
Nice tires, but straight up scary on wet metal surfaces.
@Eric Any tire will be on that surface. Wet steel and wood are deadly.
I got some at Kraynicks and I am pretty sure he usually has them in stock.
My personal review is A+, nary a flat to be seen in the last few months but they are very slick even in a light rain as mentioned earlier in the thread
I've commuted across the same bridge for a few years now, with many different tires. The Zaffiro is the only tire that has almost put me on my head every time I hit the expansion joints when wet. I've ridden plenty of other tires that are much, much better.
Thanks for the Kraynick's tip. REI does not have them.
Also, I haven't bothered to take them off my bike, scary wet surface traction or not. They don't seem to wear out.
Probably explains why they are popular among the skidderz.
Kraynick's has a bunch of them. $16 and apparently his price on them is going up a bit.
Thanks!
